Located in a high mountain area in the south-western part of China, Tibet is a beautiful and antique autonomous region. Tibet’s internal Government was for centuries a theocracy under the leadership of Buddhist Lamas or Monks. In 1959, Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and the then head of Tibet, fled to India during a Tibetan rebellion against the Chinese occupation of the region. China then overwhelmed the resistance and took full control over Tibet and installed a sympathetic Tibetan ruler in 1965 AD. This was how the theocracy was replaced by the communist administration. Also a sacred home to Mt Kailash and Mansarovar Lake, is a famous pilgrimage destination for the devotees of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism and an epitome of beauty and exoticism to the rest of the world.

The awesome Kailash Parbat (6714m), believably the abode of Lord Shiva, one og the greatest Hindu deities, is also believed to be a place where founders of Tibetan Buddhism and Jainism once resided. Hindus and Buddhists all over the world worship this peak as the exact “center of the Universe”.

The other major fascination of the Tibetan plateau is perhaps the most sacred Lake of Hindus Lake Mansarovar (4580m) that lies just at the foot of Mt Kaikash. The Lake is so large that it takes for about three days to complete the Parikrama (going round it) which has spiritual connotation as well.  One dip into the cold water of this holy Lake is believed to free the soul of all its sins, thus paving the way for heaven after death.

You will first arrive at Kathmandu Airport and stay at a Hotel. During the formalities for your visa and permit for Tibet Tour, we provide you with sightseeing in the Kathmandu Valley in which you will visit the Durbar Square, the Swoyambhunath, the Boudhanath and the Pashupatinath, all included in the World Heritage sites.

Kailash Manasarovar Helicopter Tour starts from Nepalgunj, after you take a flight from Kathmandu. After a night stay at a Nepalgunj hotel, the next day, after breakfast, you will proceed to the Nepalgunj Airport to board the plane to simikot. After arriving at simikot, you will consume your day for acclimatization because Simikot is located at the altitude of 10,000 ft, much higher than Kathmandu, and will cherish the captivating views of Himalayan valley.

We will then steer you to Hilsa from Simikot air strip by a 20 to25-minute helicopter ride. On landing at Hilsa, we walk up to Chinese check post situated at a 500-meter distance. We then cross over the bridge on foot. The brave, experienced and warm Sherpas will escort you throughout.

After completing the formalities at Chinese security check post, we board the awaiting jeeps and head to Purang (Taklakot ), a tiny but lovely city of Tibet. The second time during the trip, you will stay there for acclimatization since it is situated at an altitude of 12,800 ft. If necessary, you can also shop there.

The next day, the Kailash pilgrimage starts a little early. After having breakfast, we board the landcruisers for a one-hour drive to Rakshesh Tal/Ravana Tal . It derived its name after Ravana, the devotee of Lord Shiva, who is believed to have sat for penance to appease Lord Shiva. We will reach Manasarovar Lake after a 30-minute drive. You will then take a Holy dip and perform puja (worship) and proceed to Mt. Kailash, just 40 km away from Lake Manasarovar. Then, we will be driving to Ashtapad. According to a Hindu myth, Adinath Rishabdeva, the first Tirtnankar attained Nirvana (salvation) here and thus many Hindus and Buddhists believe that after diving into the Lake and revolving round it hope to attain salvation and make way to the heaven. At this point we will be at the elevation of 16,000 ft.

We will probably have some time for meditation so as to experience tranquility. Now we are at the point of start of the return journey. On returning, we will complete Manasarovar Parikarma (moving round lake by jeeps.

The next day, early in the morning, after completing immigration formalities, we will return to Hilsa. Still on the way, we can visit Khojar Nath Buddhist Temple. Eventually we will board the Helicopter to return to Simikot. From Simikot, we will fly to Nepalgunj and then to Kathmandu.

How to book holiday trip  Nepal and Tibet ?

Satori Adventures and Expedition aims at giving proper information to many travelers, trekkers and climbers who have some confusion regarding the booking process of the trip in Nepal.  Satori Adventures therefore desires to provide guideline for the first-time visitors or travelers so that they can comfortably start the process to book the selected package legally. Before starting the booking process we always advise our trekkers, travelers and climbers to intelligently check whether the company is genuine and whether they are fully safe to travel in the company’s guidance. We ask them to be acquainted with the company they want book their holiday trip with. Is the company genuine and authorized from Government of Nepal, Office of the Company Registrar, Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Rastra Bank ‒Central Bank of Nepal (authorized for foreign currency), Permanent Account Number (PAN), and the Department of Cottage & Small Industries).  Are they financially secured and environmentally conscious? We advise them to make sure about these formalities because there are some companies in Nepal that have been running business without abiding by the rules and regulation of the Government. Some companies were once registered but by now their licenses have already been expired and yet they have providing the services illegally.

On many occasions, Government of Nepal and Trekking Agency Association of Nepal have found that many foreigners’ tour operators, NGOs and INGOs have been involved in directly operating tours, trekking, and mountaineering holiday adventures without having government license and abiding by the Government rules. It has been also found that many individuals, freelance guides and porters have been arranging trips illegally by creating their own personal website. We have observed that many trekkers and climbers face a host of problems once they arrive in Kathmandu as they lack adequate information.  Many of them file complaints to Government of Nepal and Trekking Agency Association of Nepal for legal action such as the refund of the advanced payment. There is hardly any justice given to the cheated clients. Thus, so as to prevent all these probable problems we request our travelers to check the company before booking any trip to the Himalayas.
