Lobuche East Peak Climbing (6,119m/20,062ft)

Rated 5/5 based on 8 customer reviews

Lobuche Peak Climbing is a popular peak climbing in Nepal on the edge of Mount Everest. Lobuche Peak is not so easier than Island Peak Climbing; This is a technically challenging trek. Climbing Lobuche peak takes you up over 20000 feet high, the climbing difficulty may arise, but with the proper guidance, one can summit. You could add this climb to your Everest Base Camp Trek.

Lobuche East Peak Climbing

Lobuche East Peak Climbing is an exceptional pick for your first Himalayan climb. It is an aesthetic peak with stunning views from its summit. Lobuche peak lies close to the Khumbu Glacier and has two prominent peaks, Lobuche Far East and Lobuche East Peak. The massive Louche East peak stands at 6119m (20,062ft) and is located at the latitude of 27°58'08''N and 86°47'05" E. A permit's cost is very reasonable, and the peak is somewhat secluded, allowing for more privacy. You will have a great view of Lhotse Face, Everest, Ama Dablam, and many other 6000m peaks in the Khumbu Valley. The standard route is up the southeast Ridge, it gained popularity after Mr. Laurice Nielson and Ang Gyalzen Sherpa successfully reached the summit from this route on 25 April 1984 around 13:00. The South and Southeast Ridges form a distinctive rock triangle that extends from the panel to the Khumbu Glacier. Lateral moraines with stone memorials make the ridges easily identifiable from the trek. It's our classic tea house treks with camping arrangements at base camp and high camps.

Best Season for Climbing Lobuche Peak

The best season for climbing the rocky Lobuche peak 6,119m (20,062ft) height is in the spring (April, May) and autumn (September, October, November). Satori Adventures offers Lobuche East Peak climbing as a guided climbing trip for groups looking to train for future ascents or groups with minimal experience. Lobuche East peak is more challenging than Island or Mera height. So prepare as you are a previous summiteer of Island or Mera. Lobuche east peak climbing is not only suitable for beginners; some prior experience is necessary.

Your adventure begins right after you depart Kathmandu; after a 35-minute flight through the spectacular Himalayan range, you will land in the historic village of Lukla. The trek to Lobuche peak begins from this village. You will pass through several landmark villages, including Namche Bazaar, the famous ancient trading post between Nepal and Tibet; Tengboche, home to a significant Buddhist monastery; Pangboche, the highest Sherpa village in the region; and Dingboche. You will have several options for small acclimatization excursions; these excursions will also make great photo opportunities. A hike up to Gorak Shep village at 5125m is excellent for acclimatization, or a trek to the satellite peak of Kalapathar at 5540m is another perfect option and has classic views of Mt. Everest. With these acclimatization qualifications, you will walk back to Lobuche village and trek to the Lobuche East Base Camp situated at 5200m. We will allow one day for acclimatization here again before we begin the short climbing period.

The climbing route from base camp traverses several different types of terrain. You will encounter a 2-hour slog along a well-outlined trail; this will take you to the first place to put a high center, right alongside a hidden lake at approximately 5030m is a beautiful area that makes for a great high camp. The route continues up a series of slabs that increase steeply until finally giving way to the high command's Southeast Ridge. These slabs are usually ice/snow-covered, so care is needed; at this point is when our professional climbing Sherpa guides will fix the ropes. 60m from central Ridge, slab end, and you are now faced with a 50-degree snow wall to ascend onto the Ridge. The start of the Ridge is at approximately 5700m. For the more adventurous, this is also a possible site for a second high camp to make the summit day a little easier; only 5% of the climbers require this camp, and not suggested for stronger climbers. Follow the summit ridge around seracs and various "lumps and bumps" toward the summit. There are no real difficulties, although there is a feeling of some exposure along the way. There is a considerable descent between the false and the true summit (around 200ft), which you may need to rappel down.

Lobuche Peak Climbing Cost

The Lobuche Peak climbing cost depends mostly on how long you'll stay in the region. The longer your itinerary, the more you'll be owing to your travel agency. And also, your accommodation and hotel rating varies the cost.

We advise them to make sure about these formalities because there are some companies in Nepal that have been running business without abiding by the rules and regulation of the Government. On many occasions, Government of Nepal and Trekking Agency Association of Nepal have found that many foreigners’ tour operators, NGOs and INGOs have been involved in directly operating tours, trekking, and mountaineering holiday adventures without having government license and abiding by the Government rules. It has been also found that many individuals, freelance guides and porters have been arranging trips illegally by creating their own personal website. We have observed that many trekkers and climbers face a host of problems once they arrive in Kathmandu as they lack adequate information.  Many of them file complaints to Government of Nepal and Trekking Agency Association of Nepal for legal action such as the refund of the advanced payment. There is hardly any justice given to the cheated clients. Thus, so as to prevent all these probable problems we request our travelers to check the company before booking any trip to the Himalayas.

However, our policies for accepting clients on these peaks require that the client has as list experience of British hill hiking and some knowledge of rock & Ice climbing.

For those seeking the experience of climbing a 6000m peak, Nepal should be at the top of your list of countries to visit. With the rich variety of flora and fauna, the everlasting smiles of the rural Nepalese, the hospitality of the village communities, the favorable climatic and geographical conditions, the cultural and linguistic diversity and the rich cultural spirit which represents a unique blend of Buddhism and Hinduism Nepal is the adventure capital of the world. With 1400 trekking peaks above 6000m and 8 of the 14 8000m peaks in the world it is fair to say that your mountaineering ambitions can be taken to a new level here in Nepal. Will never start and complete without having Himalayan peak experience.

It is important for each climber to choose the right expedition guide service that not only suites their needs, but provides the best safely and secure mountaineering experience possible. Climbing an 6,000 meter peak is not difficult for those trekkers and hikers who have some experience of Ice axe, walking on fixed rope and using crampons above snow. The steep about 45º snow climbing and ice-climbing that can be required entices craftsman to test. If you are considering climbing an 6000m peak there are several questions that you need to ask yourself and be truthful about your findings. Am I physically fit enough? Am i technically capable of handling the expected terrain? Am I mentally capable of the hardship associated with high altitude expeditions?

Our climbing Sherpa guides are experienced and highly qualified. Most were born in high altitude regions and have spent much of their lives above 4,000 meters. We provide extensive training to our guides in technical climbing as well as English, customer relationships and Wilderness First Aid. These guides are all certified mountain guides via the Nepal Mountaineering Association and generally have three former summits of the 8,000 meter peak that they are guiding. Our high altitude Sherpa climbing guides have many years of experience and are qualified through training with TAAN and NATHAM. They are highly skilled in all aspects of mountaineering in Nepal and hold a Nepal Government License, Mountaineering Association Accreditation and Summit Certificates for Nepal Himalayan peaks. All of these government licenses are displayed in our office.

Persons below 16 years of age are restricted from climbing 6,000 meter peaks in the Himalaya of Nepal. This was a recent change in Nepal.

On popular trekking trails we utilize lodges/guest houses (aka teahouses) the meals will be provided by these lodges. Menu meals are often available including soups, noodles, rice, and dishes. On certain 6,000 meter trekking routes, lodges and guest houses may be limited, or not available. In these instances, accommodations will be via tents and the meals will be provided by our staff. In these instances meals will be prepared on the route with canister stoves or natural fires. While in base camp our expedition cooks will prepare meals. Above base camp the meals will be provided by our climbing Sherpa. Above base camp we always supply high altitude food that meets our clients’ requirements.

We recommend upon arriving picking up a CDMA, Ncell or Namaste pre paid card and insert that into your mobile device. In remote areas, communication is generally not available, or on a very limited basis. Some other and more costly options include the use of a Satellite phone. We like to use Delorme. We will always supply a phone that is available upon the clients request during trekking and mountaineering expeditions.

A licensed, trained and experienced climbing Sherpa Guide will lead an 6000mk trekking peak on 6,000 meter peaks above base camp. On the approach to base camp our teams may be lead by a licensed Sirdar or professional mountaineering/trekking guide. As per group size most of the trekking peak will guiding by the same climbing Sherpa guide wile our climbing Sherpa guide are also government license holder trekking guide as well.

Yes. All trekkers and climbers are required to purchase adequate travel insurance, which includes a helicopter emergency evacuation plan. Insurance is not expensive compared to the cost of an evacuation during an expedition. Without having travel insurance during your trek or climb you will be financially responsible for all the costs of your evacuation and treatment. These bills can be tens of thousands of dollars.

You need to obtain your travel insurance policy before you depart your home. Your insurance should cover high altitude mountaineering, mountain rescue and helicopter transport to a medical facility. These types of policies are readily available through many travel agents and/or our affiliates. Before purchasing a package make sure that the policy covers helicopter evacuation from remote mountain locations, make sure that they will pick you up in a fully equipment medical transport helicopter.

Great trip

We had a great time on the EBC trek supported by Rishi and his team from Satori adventures. We had booked because of Rishi’s reputation as a great organizer and most welcoming host. He certainly lived up to this! We were very impressed by the trek crew who were cheerful and friendly and ran an excellent and tasty base camp on our climb. Point to note, trekkers summit of Lobuche East is actually about 5900m.

EBC/Kala Patthar/ Lobuche east expedition

Satori Adventures was the outfitters I chose for my EBC and Lobuche east expedition and i am really happy with the professionalism and the services they provided. Starting from arrival in Kathmandu to departure from Kathmandu, this team took care of everything. This was my first time in Nepal and first expedition in Himalayas, and Rishi and team made sure that my first trip to Himalayas becomes memorable.. I was very much impressed with the leader and main guide of the team Mingma Dai( Mingma Tenzing Sherpa), amazing personality with such a kind, calm and positive attitude. He was highly professional in his manners. He not even once got irritated with our frequent stupid questions on the trail and very patiently answered all the questions.Everyday he would inquire about our health and would take care of everything that we needed.Other team members were also great. Rinji and Mingma bahini took very good care of us on the trail. Anoop Dai was the awesomest cook at the high camp. Also he was my Sherpa who never left my side during the climb.Porters were amazing. They were the powerhouse of the team. I was amazed to see them carrying 50 kg effortlessly when I was huffing and puffing with my daypack.

Overall,I am super happy with the team and services they provided and would definitely consider Satori adventures for my future expeditions. Also I highly recommend this team if you are looking for an outstanding experience in Nepal.Keep up the good work Team Satori!!

Lobuche east

I used satori adventure for my trip to Lobuche east summit.

It was my first peak climb and I felt like I was in good hands from the beginning. Logistically everything was excellent and went on smoothly without any problems. Rishi, the CO of the company, is very caring and made sure that I felt welcome even before I landed in Nepal!

They were very flexible with the Initiary, making sure that I was happy with the layup for the trip, always answered all my questions within a day and kept me well informed.

Even though I stayed in the country more than a week after I came back from Khumbu and theoretically wasn't "with" the company anymore Rishi made sure that I was doing good and had a place to stay when coming back to Kathmandu after a short trip to south Nepal.

I can warmly recommend satori adventure based on my own experience, trekking and mountaineering with them. I will also use them again for future expeditions in Nepal!
