Satori Adventures Nepal: Helicopter Ride to Everest Base Camp

You can only dub it an “Adventure in Nepal” when you have toured the Everest Base Camp. Following the victorious venture by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, the Everest Base Camp has since been one of the most sought-out destinations for the adventure fanatics. As a result, thousands of tourists throng this sight each year. Normally, there are three ways you can reach Everest Base Camp: trekking from Jiri to Everest Base Camp, flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and finally a helicopter reservation from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp. The Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour is among the simplest and most enjoyable alternatives to get to Mount Everest Base Camp. Helicopter flights have become growingly favored as a mode of picturesque air travel. Travelling by helicopter to Everest Base Camp offers passengers a breathtaking aerial view of the landscape as a whole. Due to the limited number of passengers per helicopter ride, the tour will feel more personal and private allowing you to even have a chat with the pilot.

What to expect on the Everest Base Camp Heli Tour

Once we set off from the Kathmandu Airport, you will get a breathtaking view of the entire valley including the vista of green forests, flying parallel to Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal and Jugal Himal ranges. The expedition will then carry on the eastern and far eastern Himalayas, which include Cho-Oyu and Gaurishankar. In about 45 minutes we will arrive at Lukla (2,820m), also referred to as the “Gateway to Mount Everest”. The flight will proceed towards Namche Bazaar (3,440m) commonly known as the Sherpa Capital. Although very different from the usual modern city, Namche provides you with all the facilities you may need such as ATM counters, Banking service, Internet, Luxurious Restaurants and Hotels. After a period of time we will get to Yangboche Monastery (3,867m) from where you can get a spectacular close-up of the Tharmasarkhur, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and of course the magnificent Mount Everest. Satori Adventure’s Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour directly takes you to Everest Base Camp, landing on Kalapathar, where you will have ample time to go trigger happy on your camera snap button. After taking some rare snaps to your fulfillment, we will then trek to Gokyo Lake. The Everest Base Camp Heli Trek tour is also included in the package, where you get to land and trek the amazing landscapes. We will spend some time at the Everest Base Camp, have lunch at the Everest View Lodge and eventually depart for Kathmandu. The entire flight to Everest Base Camp lasts only 3 hours- 3 hours of amazing experience you will remember for a lifetime.

The advantages of using helicopter to Everest Base Camp

  1. Fly Low. The helicopter can fly very high and at the same time descend much lower compared to an airplane, therefore offering the passengers numerous scenic angles.  Flying through gorges and between mountains is an exceptional experience.
  2. Different views. Touring on ground offers you only one view, while touring on a helicopter offers you a panorama view and enables you to experience so much more within a limited period of time.
  3. Landing. The helicopter’s maneuverability allows you to land just about anywhere for an Everest Base Camp Heli Trek to various sights and attractions that are seemingly impossible to get to.
  4. Private tour. The limited personnel on board per flight allows for a more personal tour where you can ask questions and the pilot gives commentary.
  5. Breathtaking experience. The feeling of being on air itself is exciting enough to get the adrenaline pumping, topped up with all the remarkable views you will see during your scenic flight.

How to book holiday trip in Nepal?

Satori Adventures and Expedition aims at giving proper information to many travelers, trekkers and climbers who have some confusion regarding the booking process of the trip in Nepal.  Satori Adventures therefore desires to provide guideline for the first-time visitors or travelers so that they can comfortably start the process to book the selected package legally. Before starting the booking process we always advise our trekkers, travelers and climbers to intelligently check whether the company is genuine and whether they are fully safe to travel in the company’s guidance. We ask them to be acquainted with the company they want book their holiday trip with. Is the company genuine and authorized from Government of Nepal, Office of the Company Registrar, Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Rastra Bank ‒Central Bank of Nepal (authorized for foreign currency), Permanent Account Number (PAN), and the Department of Cottage & Small Industries).  Are they financially secured and environmentally conscious? We advise them to make sure about these formalities because there are some companies in Nepal that have been running business without abiding by the rules and regulation of the Government. Some companies were once registered but by now their licenses have already been expired and yet they have providing the services illegally.

On many occasions, Government of Nepal and Trekking Agency Association of Nepal have found that many foreigners’ tour operators, NGOs and INGOs have been involved in directly operating tours, trekking, and mountaineering holiday adventures without having government license and abiding by the Government rules. It has been also found that many individuals, freelance guides and porters have been arranging trips illegally by creating their own personal website. We have observed that many trekkers and climbers face a host of problems once they arrive in Kathmandu as they lack adequate information.  Many of them file complaints to Government of Nepal and Trekking Agency Association of Nepal for legal action such as the refund of the advanced payment. There is hardly any justice given to the cheated clients. Thus, so as to prevent all these probable problems we request our travelers to check the company before booking any trip to the Himalayas.

Great Everest Heli tour

great everest heli tour20

While we were in Nepal for a conference and wanted to organize a quick helicopter trip to Everest base Camp. The manager of Satori Adventures was Rishi who organized a heli trip with a very experienced heli crew up to Lukla, Hotel Everest View and to an advanced point near base camp. We enjoyed ourself by watching the clear view of Everest and the surrounding peaks. On our request Rishi organized a quick half day tour to fill in our day in Kathmandu.

I highly recommend Satori Adventures for the  Nepal Tour.

Most proficient & trustworthy agency for mountain trekking

We had been for long contemplating going for trek in Himalayas – particularly in Everest Base Camp (EBC) region with stay at famous Hotel Everest View at 3,880 meters. Considering our age (70 +) we were not sure whether we can do this trip or not.

Thankfully, we were introduced to Mr. Rishi Bhandari of Satori Adventures by an avid mountaineer. Rishiji met us in person in Mumbai, India to understand our plans and in due course of time he suggested a program which can take care of all our desires keeping in mind our age.

Rishiji’s special emphasis was on our doing the trek at leisurely speed unlike other young trekkers with overnight halts at Phakding, then at Monjo and then 2 nights at Namche Bazaar to ensure that we are properly acclimatized before we proceed to Hotel Everest View and then take a copter ride to EBC & Kala Pathhar.

On completing our trip and returning we realised why there was a need at our age to take halts at Phakding & Monjo and also why 2 nights acclimatizing is required/ must at Namche Bazaar.

Rishiji also gave us an experienced guide Mohan and a porter to carry our luggage. And to add to our comforts he also deployed one additional porter Subhash who carried a 60 liters oxygen supply cylinder in case of emergency. Both Mohan and Subhash all through till HEV walked along with us to ensure lending support at all times.

We are thankful to Satori Adventures, particularly Rishiji for taking the utmost care of us all through our Holiday Trekking and vacation. We were provided with stay at the best possible accommodations (Mountain Lodges of Nepal) at Phakding, Monjo and Namche Bazaar offering the best possible mountain hospitality.

Thank you, Satori Adventures & Rishiji.
